In loving memory of Twila J. Cleveland
Twila J. Cleveland, 89, of Syracuse NY, passed away peacefully on January 17 th , 2025.
Twila was born on December 8 th , 1935 to Hiram and Sarah VanScoter in Belmont NY.
Twila was predeceased by her four brothers, Paul Vanscoter, Stanley Vanscoter, Joseph VanScoter, and James Salsgiver. Twila has four sisters, Josephine Lane (deceased), Leona Merkel of Homer NY, Ellen Berry of Cortland NY, and Martha Orego of Waterloo NY.
Twila was predeceased by her husband Earl Cleveland, Sr., and had nine children, Albert Cleveland (deceased), James Porter of Syracuse NY, Elbridge Cleveland of Lacona NY, Earl Cleveland of Syracuse NY, Becky Simonds of Solvay NY, June Cranney of Syracuse NY, Betty Stevens of Syracuse NY, Marian Braithwaite of Syracuse NY, and Trina Migdal of Valdosta GA.
Twila has several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
In her younger years Twila was a very good bowler. She obtained several trophies and awards to include being a member of the 200 average and above club. In her adult Lifetime Twila lived in several locations over New York State until she reached her final place of residence in Syracuse NY where she lived with three of her children.
Twila’s last few months of life were spent at Crown Park Nursing Home in Cortland NY with her sisters before passing way on the evening of January 17 th 2025. Twila Left her loved ones here on earth to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Calling Hours will be 4-6pm on Friday January 24 th , 2025 at Summerville Funeral Home at 1997 Harwood Drive, Sandy Creek, NY 13145. Her burial will take place in the spring in a small family cemetery in Lacona NY.
Twila will be loved and missed by many. May she rest in peace. Romans 8:28, And we know all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
