Theodora "Teddi" Horth

Theodora “Teddi” Horth, age 79, passed away Thursday November 4, 2021 at Superior Residences of Lecanto, FL with her daughter by her side. Teddi was born September 19, 1942 in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of Leon Sobles and Margaret (Spencer) Sobles Rodriguez and stepfather Catarino Rodriguez. She lived most of her childhood in Brooklyn, NY and attended Pulaski Academy Schools during her high school years while caring for her grandmother. Teddi was married to James “Jim” Horth on November 19, 1959. Teddi received her associate’s degree from Jefferson Community College, bachelor and master’s degrees in secondary education and history from Oswego State University. She spent most of her career teaching Global Studies at Pulaski Academy & Central School retiring in 2007. Teddi was a member of the VFW Cable Trail Post 8534 Ladies Auxiliary, former NOCA volunteer, volunteered at the Lacona/Sandy Creek Food Pantry and the Boylston Helping Hands, served on the Oswego County Election Board and a member of the United Methodist Church of Sandy Creek, before moving to Beverly Hills, FL in 2019 with her daughter and son-in-law.

Her hobbies included sewing, needlework, crocheting, reading and travelling. She was always a caregiver, looking after her family, first with her grandmother when she was a teenager, then her husband, mother and in-laws. She was the strength of the family, always stepping up to care for them when in need.

Teddi was happiest when her home was full of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, celebrating birthdays and holidays together.

Surviving are her three children, Debbie (Ron) Morneau of Beverly Hills, FL, Jim (Kathy) Horth of Lacona, NY and Teresa (Tim) Crast also of Lacona, eight grandchildren, Joe and Ron II Morneau, Christine (Paul) Russell, Melisa (Jeremy) Nelson, Jennifer (Ron) Grinnell, TJ (Mackenzie Judware) Crast, Mike (Jaimie) Horth and Molly Horth, and six (plus one on the way) great grandchildren, Alex, Conner, Allison, Taylor, Paige, Natalie and Dillon (due February 2022), four brothers,  Mike (Cathy), Steven, Tony and Chris (Lorraine) Rodriguez, one sister, Peggy (Marty) Cohen and many nieces and nephews. Teddi was predeceased by her husband Jim, her parents and a brother Dan Rodriguez.

Calling Hours will be held at Summerville Funeral Home, Harwood Dr., Lacona on Monday, November 22nd from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 23rd at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Sandy Creek, Harwood Dr., Sandy Creek, with a burial in the Boylston Cemetery following the service.
