Stacey Jane Peyton, whose valiant fight against ovarian cancer inspired all who loved her, died peacefully on June 21, 2024 in Houston, Texas. Through all her struggles over nearly four years of intense treatment, she never lost her salty sense of humor, quick wit, zest for life and fierce loyalty to her family and friends. She always made those she loved feel special. It was important to Stacey to always present her best self, even during the roughest days of treatment. People who had just met her would never have guessed what she was going through. Her saucy personality earned her the nicknames “Princess" and “Diva" from her friends. Her lnstagram handle was °SassyClassy." She had a knack for picking out beautiful things and often bestowed precious gifts on her loved ones. And she strongly encouraged them to splurge on themselves and enjoy life. She loved to entertain, discover the latest restaurants, and experience new adventures with those she held dear. She is survived by her mother, Nora Jane Peyton (partner Mike Whitney), her partner, Reggie Fikes, her sister-in-law, Tove Peyton, niece, Alexis, and nephew, Jordan. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert, brother, Chad, and her beloved dog, Jordan. Stacey was born on Aug. 14, 1976 in Watertown, New York. She earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from the State University of New York at Oswego. She spent much of her career in Austin, Texas working as an executive for a number of companies, most recently as Director of Operations at MyFitnessPal, and winning admiration for the quality of her work. But more valuable to her were the many lifelong friendships she developed with colleagues over the years. In 2021, Stacey moved to Houston to receive care at MD Anderson Cancer Center. She bought and meticulously redecorated a house, where she spent her final hours surrounded by her mother and her three closest friends, Lani Summerville, Lisa Swarts and Ann Funai. A funeral service will be held Saturday June 29th at Summerville Funeral Home. Calling Hours will precede the funeral from 11am-1pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Stacey's memory may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (httgs://www.ocrahope.org) or the American Diabetes Association (https://www.diabetes.org).
