Shirley M (Casler) Widrig

Shirley Casler Widrig, 92 of Boylston passed away Thursday, November 25, 2021 after a brief stay at Loretto Health & Rehabilitation Center in Syracuse, NY. Prior to that, Shirley had resided at Camillus Ridge Terrace in Camillus, NY for nearly two years.
Shirley was born in Lorraine, NY on September 29, 1929. She was the daughter of Ferd and Edith Zufelt Casler.  She attended school in Lorraine and graduated from Adams High School before moving to Lacona where she met R. Victor Widrig.  They married on November 1, 1952 in Olean, NY and owned and operated a dairy farm in Boylston until Victor's retirement in 1995.
Shirley was a member of the Sandy Creek United Methodist Church and the Boylston Helping Hands. She also worked for the Oswego County Election Board as an election inspector in Boylston for 50 years. She enjoyed crafts, jigsaw puzzles, listening to polka music and tending to her flower gardens. She also enjoyed gatherings with her family, dinner and cookouts and playing games, especially Phase 10.
Shirley is survived by her three children; Patricia (Alden) Witham of Cherry Valley, NY; Diane Mills of Elbridge, NY and Alan (Alice) Widrig of Boylston, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Marilyn Bisig of Rodman, NY; a sister-in-law, Elaine Widrig of Woodville, NY and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents, her husband Victor in 2014 and her siblings Jenny, Robert, Irene Robbins, Hazel Backus, Winford, Delphine McNitt, Dorothy Comstock, Arnold, Allen and Vivian Turner.
Donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, an organization for which she campaigned for many years.
Calling hours are private. Funeral services will be held graveside at her burial in the spring with a date to be announced at a later time.
