Roger Raymond Clark, 82, passed away on May 22, 2026.
A lifelong resident of Orwell, NY, the oldest son of Raymond and Norma Clark, Roger attended Sandy Creek School and started working on the family farm at a young age. He never stopped working until he he reached 80. He was a member of the Boiler Makers Union Local 175 for many years. He worked at Fulton Boiler Works and started his own excavating business in 1974 called Huff and Puff Excavating, Inc. He later started a woodsplitting business and made maple syrup for years. He was most proud of being a volunteer fireman since 1964, serving as a member of Orwell and Richland Fire Departments. An avid hunter he belonged to the Albion Fish & Game Club. He enjoyed riding his Honda Goldwing and was a member of the Upstate Cruisers. He also served as a councilman on the Orwell Town Board for 8 years.
He was predeceased by his wife, Carol Summerville Clark.
He is survived by his daughter Theresa Clark-Switzer and her partner Todd Whaley, a son Raymond and Kristine Clark, 3 grandsons; Mitchell Switzer and Kristen Hayes, Dylan Switzer and Katherine Estep, Diesel Clark, 1 granddaughter Carolanne Switzer and Christopher Nicolella, a brother Converse Wayne Clark, sisters Alice King, Pauline Tighe and Joyce Martin, his beloved puppy dog Casey and several nieces and nephews.
Calling Hours will be Thursday May 28, 2026 from 4-7pm at Summerville Funeral Home in Sandy Creek. The Funeral Service will be Friday May 29, 2026, 11am at the funeral home followed by burial at South Richland Cemetery.
Donations may be made in his honor to the Orwell Fire Dept or Half-Shire Historical Society.
