Robert E Lewis

Robert E Lewis, of Lacona, NY passed away peacefully at his home July 23, 2023. He was 94 years old.

Robert was born April 7, 1929 in Orwell, NY to Kenneth A. and Hazel R. (Wilcox) Lewis. He graduated from Sandy Creek High School in 1947.  He served overseas in the United States Marine Corps from 1948-1952 as a radio operator and did reconnaissance in Europe. After his service he returned to school and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture from Cornell University and later did his Masters Work in Education at Oswego State.

Bob worked for Cooperative extension, taught General Science at Central Square School, was a field supervisor for General Foods, USDA/ NY Dept of Ag & Markets and was a self-employed Carpenter/ Homebuilder and a grain farmer.

Bob is survived by a nephew; Arthur Lewis of Phoenix, AZ and two nieces; Christine Cooper and Elizabeth King both of Vermont.

Bob has attended and been a member of the Sandy Creek Baptist/ Sandy Creek Bible Church since he was 5 years old. He has also been a member of the Sandy Creek Grange for over 75 years.

There will be a Memorial Service at the Sandy Creek Bible Church at a day and time to be announced.
