Robert Charles Beck born April 22, 1936, son of the late Charles and Edna Beck died at his home in Sandy Creek, New
York on October 5, 2023 surrounded by his family.
Bob began working at age 14 for Newsday delivering papers and setting pins at the local bowling alley to save enough
money to buy a 1941 Ford Convertible for $185.00 He got his car! Bob graduated from Lindenhurst High School 1955.
After graduating High School he began working for Dannenberg Heating and Air Conditioning on Long Island, then
became owner of his own heating and air business until he suffered a heart attack in his early 50’s.
Bob loved to hunt, fish, skeet shoot, and snowmobile in his younger years. He first came to Sandy Pond at the age of 15,
when his future brother-in-law, Jack Rogers invited him to his family summer home fondly known as “camp”. In the
early 70’s Bob bought his own summer home on the pond behind the Rogers’ “camp” where summers were always
spent with a cold Utica Club beer or Pabst Blue Ribbon, partying at Eddie’s Cove (with Eddie and Mary), McCarthy’s and
the Wigwam, good old fashioned barbeque, the kids fishing off the docks, riding mini-bikes, water-skiing, Fireman’s
Field Days, Parades, Sandy Creek Fair, taking the boat to Sandy Island Beach or taking the canoe out for a spin up the
creek.
Bob always had a wave and a smile as he passed by your home. He volunteered at his local church to help pass out food
for many years. He was very unassuming and had a very dry wit that could leave you laughing for quite some time.
Bob was preceded in death by his second wife, Patricia (Miller), his son, Wayne Beck, his sister, Grace (Beck) Rogers, and
brother-in-law, John “Jack” Rogers.
