Judy Mae (Rood) Whitman, 75, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family and puppies Stewie, Star, and Rosebud.
Judy was born April 27, 1946 in Canton, NY to Harold E and Elnora (Caswell) Rood. She attended Canton High School. Her parents worked for SUNY Canton state farm and she raised and rode her horse, Duchess, in horse show competitions. Judy was a waitress and eventually owned her own restaurants such as Passino’s in Stateway Plaza and Filino’s in Adams. She then worked with her daughter Robin at Crossroads Diner and Robin’s Nest. She was a phenomenal baker. She loved being active in her church community and she ran the cafe as well as helped with festivals at New Life Church with her husband, Alvin. She loved crafting, gardening, her dogs, visiting with family, playing on her computer, canning, and loved to laugh. She enjoyed working on her family tree, and was an avid bowler in a league in the past.
Surviving is her husband of 34 years, Alvin D. Whitman; children: Robin (William) Killenbeck, Paul (Felicia) Passino, Jackie (Jeff) Ward, grandchildren who she loved dearly Jenna (Steve) King, Kris Cooley (Sarah Ellis), Adam (Kylie) Ward, Brittany Ward (Derek Orton), Blake, Logan and Wyatt Passino and eight great grandchildren, two sisters: Jeanette Rose (Frank Carter) and Joyce Ordway (brother-in-Law Roger is deceased).
She will be cremated and a memorial service will be at New Life Church Thursday August 12th at 4:00pm.
