John Kelly Obituary

John D. Kelly, 73, of Sandy Pond, N.Y., Effort, PA and Kimbles, PA passed away February 15, 2018 after a short illness.

John was born January 9, 1945 in Alexandria, LA and was the son of George W. Kelly Sr., and Celia (Martin) Kelly.  He was a graduate of Hawley High School, Hawley, PA and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  He and his wife, Barbara, operated John D. Kelly, Inc. Building Contractor in the Pocono Mountains for over 30 years. John will be remembered for his honesty and integrity in building some of the finest homes in the area.  He served as past president of the Monroe County Master Builders & Contractors Assoc. and Pocono Builder’s Assoc. winning many awards for his work.

John’s love for hunting and fishing led them to retire at beautiful Sandy Pond, NY.

John is leaving behind the love of his life of 52 years, his wife Barbara, son David Kelly of Clermont, FL, daughter and son-in-law Daniele and Nick Davanzo of Bangor, PA, grandchildren Hailey and Nicholas Davanzo and John and Kevin Kelly.  He is also survived by his brothers George W. Kelly Jr. (wife Arlene), of Greeley, PA, Robert (wife Sharon) Kelly of Milford, PA and sister Karen Richie (husband Elmer) of Dimmock, PA and many nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his sister Lillian Gelderman and his niece Sandra Meyer.

Respecting his wishes, there will be no services at this time.  The family will hold a Celebration of His Life at a later date.
