John W Caster

John W. Caster (Jack) of Sandy Creek, age 86 passed away peacefully in his sleep early on Thursday, January 22, 2026.

Jack was born on 7/2/1939 in Watertown, to the late Floyd and Ivy Caster. He grew up and spent most of his life, on the family farm, on Caster Road in Sandy Creek. He also worked for NYS DOT for over a decade. In his later years, he started a productive sawmill/pallet manufacturing business that grew and has been a family operation for more than 30 years.

Jack was predeceased by Edie, his wife of 61 years, in 2020.

He is survived by his children, John P. (Melissa) Caster Pensacola FL, Laurie Caster Sandy Creek NY. His sister: Lona (Gerry) Statt. Sister in law: Nancy Jones. Brother in law: Robert Stevens. Grandchildren: Russel (Sloan) Sperati, Rachel (Benji) Rutan, Megan (Drew) Wood, Emily, and Sarah Caster, Kaylin Switzer. Great Grandchildren: Sage, Braydee, Kellyn, and Remi, and another little soul on the way later in 2026. He is also survived by a niece, nephews, great nieces and a great nephew.

At his request, there will not be a service.
