John R. Bingham, beloved father and grandfather, and resident of Lakeland, FL, passed
peacefully, surrounded by family, on Monday, April 20, 2026. Born in Pulaski, NY on March 25,
1936 to the late Reed and Bessie (Spink) Bingham, he was preceded in death by sisters Joanne
(surviving John) Hurd, and Judy Bingham. He is survived by son Timothy (Susan) Bingham,
granddaughter Clare Bingham, brothers James (the late Elva) Bingham and Joe (Cherri)
Bingham, former wife and friend Ruth (Williamson) Bingham, and many nieces and nephews.

John loved and excelled in sports and especially baseball, pitching several no-hitters during his
high school and town team career, and being invited to try out for the Brooklyn Dodgers and
offered a college scholarship. He instead enlisted in the Army where he served three years
stationed at Camp Casey in Company E 2 nd Battalion Sixth Armored Cavalry Regiment in South
Korea. After his time in the Army, he moved to Florida and started an X-ray film processing
company with his brother Jim.

John then married, eventually moving to Greene, NY to raise their son. He served as a Greene
Central School bus driver and instructor for 30 years, training over 70 drivers and earning
multiple service and safety awards. He also drove tour buses, putting in long hours on the road
to provide for his family. He spent countless hours volunteering on the farm of his in-laws,
Clarence and Luella Williamson. John retired to spend his leisure years in Pulaski, NY and
Lakeland, FL. The arrival of his granddaughter brought immense joy and light to his life.

John never missed a chance to play catch or shoot hoops with his son and to put smiles on faces
of friends and strangers alike. His life was dedicated to love and hard work in support of his
family, and humor to all those around him. He will be deeply missed.

A Memorial Service at Summerville Funeral Home and burial at Pulaski Village Cemetery will be
held at a date to be determined.
