Janet E Hays

Janet (Jan) E. Hays, 75, of Sandy Creek, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse.

Born on December 28, 1949, in Troy, NY, Jan was the eldest of thirteen siblings. She graduated from Belleville Academy in 1969 and married Harold Hays on November 16, 1968, at the Henderson United Methodist Church.

Jan dedicated 26 years of her career as a Special Education Teaching Assistant at Oswego County BOCES before retiring. Earlier in life, she also worked at Blount Lumber in Lacona. A devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church in Pulaski, Jan taught Sunday School for 38 years. She had a deep love for children, serving as a Cub Scout leader and babysitter, and was also a sales representative for Avon, Tupperware, and Stanley products.

She is survived by her loving husband, Harold; three sons; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, with a funeral service immediately following at 4:00 p.m. Interment will take place in the spring at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sandy Creek.
