Janelle A Derochie

Janelle A. Derochie age 61 of Sandy Creek passed away suddenly on June 11, 2022. 

Janelle was born in Syracuse, NY on October 29, 1960, but spent most of her life living in Sandy Creek, NY with her loving parents Richard W. and Patricia A. Fregoe. From childhood on through into her adult life Janelle brought joy and happiness to everyone she met. She is predeceased by her father Richard W. Fregoe, and a brother Fredrick W. Fregoe. She is survived by her devoted mother Patricia A. Fregoe, brothers Jon (Lisa) Derochie, Richard Fregoe, Gerry Grossman, sisters Kelly Sinden, Lorie Dixon, Cindy Fregoe, and Tonya Grossman. Aunts and Uncles, Bill and Josie Kaljeskie, and Bob and Nancy Fregoe. And many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. 

Janelle was always an adventurous and happy child, she loved playing with her siblings, and going on family outings. In high school Janelle had the opportunity to compete in the special Olympics, which she was very proud of. She graduated from Oswego Industries in 1983, and then continued to work there for 40 years. During her time there she was well loved by everyone she worked with and received many certificates for her hard work and dedication. She took her much deserved retirement in 2019. 

Throughout her life Janelle faced difficulties and challenges and never let one of them slow her down or hold her back. Even at the worst of times you could count on her for a smile, and a laugh. A pillar of support over the years for her mother, and anyone else who was in need. Janelle loved deeply and wore her heart on her sleeve. Fiercely protective of those she loved, and always checking to make sure everyone was okay. The loss of Janelle is a sadness felt by everyone who knew her, because to know her was to immediately fall in love with her. The joy she brought to this world will be remembered by many.

There will be a graveside service held on Saturday, June 18th at 1pm at Woodlawn Cemetery, followed by a reception at the new Sandy Creek United Wesleyan Church. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Janelle’s memory to the Friendship Shop in Sandy Creek, NY.
