Hilda O (Rosen) MacDuffie

Hilda O. (Rosen) MacDuffie, 73, a lifelong resident of Sandy Creek, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse.

Hilda was born on June 24, 1952, in Watertown, New York, the daughter of Hillrich and Minnie (Mead) Rosen. She graduated from Sandy Creek High School in 1971. On July 8, 1972, she married the love of her life, Steve MacDuffie. For many years, Hilda worked in the cafeteria at Sandy Creek School, where she was known for her warm personality and friendly smile.

Hilda enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially to Lake George, and spending winters in Florida, where she loved relaxing on the beach and watching dolphins. She had many interests, including collecting lighthouse figurines and coins, shopping, and browsing garage sales. She took great joy in decorating their camp with flags and hanging flower baskets. One of her favorite pastimes was collecting sea glass on the beach with her grandchildren and creating photo albums filled with cherished memories. Hilda especially loved white daisies and marigolds. Above all, she treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren, particularly during holidays and gatherings at camp.

Hilda is survived by her loving husband, Steve; her two sisters, Elsie Steele and Nancy Robertson; and her three daughters: Stephanie (Michael) Glazier and their children, Elizabeth and Mikayla; Michelle (Brian) Simons and their beloved dogs, Peggy Sue and Maggie May; and Rachel (Andrew) Montalbano and their children, Gavin and Cooper. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Summerville Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow at Cold Springs Golf Course, 1941 U.S. Route 11, Mannsville, NY 13661. Private burial will take place in the spring at Boylston–Sandy Creek Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hilda’s memory to the Sandy Pond Sportsman’s Club, P.O. Box 154, Sandy Creek, NY 13145 (www.sandypondsportsman.com), where she had been a member.

Hilda will be remembered for her kindness, her love of family, and the many happy memories she created with those she loved.
