Helen E Thomas, 92 of Mannsville, passed away at her home, Wednesday May 1, 2019 under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
Helen was born October 25, 1925 in Hartford, CT to Chauncey and Bertha (Singer) McLain. She graduated from Newington High School and later from Morse Business College. Helen worked in Washington DC for a time as a Decoder for the Signal Corp decoding information from the Navaho Code Talkers. She married Russell Thomas in 1945. He passed in 1991.
Helen was a member of United Wesleyan Church in Sandy Creek and was active in several programs there.
Surviving are her children Kathleen Nicholson, Holly Crandall, MaryEllen Procko, Georgeann Wilcox and Bette Plante, 25 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by 3 children Russel Thomas, Jr., Caroline Cavanaugh and James M Thomas.
A Memorial Service will be Saturday May 4, 2019, 11am at the United Wesleyan Church in Sandy Creek.
