George Robert Luce (b. 1943) of Pulaski passed away on Tuesday, 11/22/2022.
Having grown up in Clay, he was an active FFA member and purchased a farm on Clark Road in Pulaski with his brother, Ray, right after high school at age 17. Later, they formed Pulaski Kitchen and Bath, doing quality home improvements in the area and providing for their seven boys. Eventually, he joined his brother working at nearby Schoeller Technical Papers, retiring from there in 2005 after 25 years. He was a league bowler in Pulaski for many years, an avid outdoorsman, and skilled gardener growing acres of vegetables every season, much of which he distributed to family, neighbors, co-workers and food pantries in the local communities. He enjoyed cooking, woodworking, repairing machinery, tinkering in general, and listening to Yankees and Syracuse University ball games. He quietly helped many others in need and preferred a private faith, praying most often on the back of a tractor in the midst of natural beauty. More than anything, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his parents, Raymond “Bud” and Grace Luce, and brothers Jack, Dick, and Raymond Jr. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara (Bays) Luce, their three sons and daughters-in-law, Brett and Andrea Luce of Syracuse, Todd and Susan Luce of Princeton, N.C. and Craig and Kathy Luce of Skaneateles, six grandchildren, and a great grandson. Also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Ernie Kuhn, and brother and sister-in-law, David and Barbara G. Luce.
Calling hours are Monday, 4-6 pm at Summerville Funeral Home in Sandy Creek with a short service immediately following.
