Gale Leo Amyotte, of Oswego, NY, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital on May 19th, 2020. He was born on February 4th, 1947 to Leo and Mabel Amyotte. He graduated from St. Lawrence Central School in Brasher Falls in 1965. He proudly served in the USMC from 1965-1969, including service in Viet Nam. He worked for a short time at Corning Glass and worked for Niagara Mohawk/Constellation from May 1977-December 2006 when he retired. He was a life member of Lacona VFW Post #8534. He was predeceased by a brother (Calvin), his father, his grandparents, and sister-in-law, Joanne Amyotte. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sharon, his children Calvin (Rebecca Crance) and Alyssa (Sis). He is also survived by his mother and two brothers, Jay of Norfolk, VA, and Mark (Rita), of Lexington, NC. He also leaves behind several good friends, including his NiMo friends and VFW comrades and acquaintances. He will be forever missed by Papa’s girl, his dog Zoey.
Leo enjoyed watching sports and the news and riding in his pickup truck.
Calling Hours will be Friday May 29, 2020 from 10-12 at the Summerville Funeral Home with social distancing and masks required and guests will be limited to 10 inside the facility. Funeral services will be for family only because of the Coronavirus. Burial will be in the Pulaski Cemetery. There will be a celebration of his life at the Pulaski VFW when permitted. Memorial donations may be made to the Lacona VFW Post #8534, the Pulaski VFW Post #7289, or the Oswego VFW Post #5885 where he had many friends.
