Frederick H Peter

Frederick Herman Peter, 93, of Lacona passed away on October 15, 2024, just short of his 94th birthday, at the VA Hospital in Syracuse. Frederick “Fritz” was born on November 22, 1930 in Pierrepont Manor, NY, the son of the late Herman and Lydia Troesch Peter, who had immigrated from Switzerland. He graduated from Mannsville Manor High School in 1948. He married Virginia B Chrisman, the love of his life, on October 17, 1954 at Sandy Creek United Methodist Church with the late Reverend Leland Webster officiating. Fritz enlisted in the Marines in November 1950 and was honorably discharged in May 1952 and then served 6 years in the reserves. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, Greater Syracuse Detatchment NENY and a lifetime member of the Midatlantic Chapter 2nd Marine Division. He was also a member of Lacona VFW Post #8534, the Sandy Creek Community Park Association, the HalfShire Historical Society, a Trustee of the Boylston SC Cemetery Association, and a chapter/ honorary member of the Beach Creek Hunting Club, including serving as past president and secretary. Fritz was employed at General Crushed Stone of Lacona as well as spending 30 years with the Carpenters Local #12 (now Carpenters Local #277), retiring in 1993. Fritz with his wife Virginia enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. He could often be found attending activities that his grandchildren and great grandchildren were involved in. He loved time spent at Beach Creek, fourwheeling and camping with family and friends. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and jet-skiing. Fritz loved meeting and conversing with people, old friends and new acquaintances. He loved everyone. Fritz dedicated his life to his wife and 5 children and their families. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. He is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 70 years, Virginia, his daughter Ann (Lawrence) Robbins, Pulaski and sons Frederick (Mindy) of Auburn, Kenneth (Jeanne) and daughter in law Jane of Lacona, and Ernest (Vette) of Pulaski, 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson; cousin Claudette Miller of Hartford CT and Edith Guinchault of France and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Herman and Lydia Peter, he was predeceased by his son David, his sister Beatrice and aunt and uncle Charles and Heddy Chevalier. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday October 19, 2024 at the Sandy Creek United Wesleyan Church with burial to follow at Boylston SC Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held at the church from 11-2 prior to the funeral. Donations may be made in his honor to the Sandy Creek United Wesleyan Church, Lacona VFW, Sandy Creek Friendship shop or a charity of choice.
