Catherine (Kay) V (Hoffert) Rogers

Kay Rogers was born in West Leyden at the beginning of the Great Depression to a large family of mostly girls.  Life was not easy for them and she told stories of how they "learned how to make do.". That experience followed her through life.  At 17 years old, she married Robert "Buck" Rogers and together they had seven children.  Buck died unexpectedly at the age of 51 years leaving her alone with seven children to care for.  She drew from her early experience and began to forge a new life for herself and her children.  To make ends meet she did wallpapering, sewing, babysitting, upholstery, bartending.  You may remember her from Wilson's Red and White or Newcomb's Quick Stop or as president for the American Legion Auxiliary.  She was a determined woman who was compassionate towards other people's struggles.  She was always ready with a smile and an encouraging word.   She lived a long life and a good life and she will be missed by many.

Surviving are her sons Robert (Elaine), George Rogers and Dale Rogers, and her daughters Brenda Metott (Ron Metott), Cynthia O'Donnell (Randy Woolworth) and Suzanne Trumble (Dale Trumble).
She was predeceased by her husband Robert Rogers and son Randy Rogers.

A celebration of life will be held at the Greater Victory Fellowship Church, 2056 Co Rt 2, Orwell, NY on Tuesday (12/13/2022) at 6:30PM.  Please feel free to bring a photo or story to share.
