Albert Johnston Obituary

Albert Ernest Johnston, a devoted father, grandfather and community servant, passed away on August 2, 2025, at Samaritan Hospital in Watertown, NY, at the age of 86 surrounded by family.

He is survived by his beloved children: Todd Albert Johnston (Mayra), Janine Agnes Capucilli (Danny Jr.), and Brian Patrick Johnston (Holly). Albert was a proud grandfather to Todd Jr., Zachary, Corey, Joanna, Danny III, Dakota, Brianna, Holly, Elizabeth, and Marissa; and a cherished great-grandfather to Seth, Rowan, Alexis, Avery, and Jaxon.

Albert was predeceased by his loving wife Sharon of 61 years, his granddaughter Jamie Ripple, and his brothers Floyd Johnston and Bill Perkins.

Albert honorably served in the United States Marine Corps for 11 years as a missile technician. Following his military service, he began a career with Decca Survey in Houston, Texas, which allowed him to travel the globe. In 1970, he returned to upstate New York to his roots to be close to family.

Over the years, he worked with NY Airbrake and at Miller Brewery from its opening to its closing. He eventually retired from Ball Plastics — although “retired” was never quite accurate. Albert continued to lend his electrical expertise throughout his community, always ready to lend a hand.

His sense of service extended beyond work and family. Albert was deeply involved with the Lacona VFW Post 8534, where he served both as Commander and District Commander. His dedication to veterans and community was unwavering.

Albert was a man of integrity, strength, and compassion. His love for his family was evident in everything he did. He will be missed beyond measure.

A celebration of life for both Albert and Sharon will be at 2pm at the Lacona VFW Hall on September 27, 2025 with a private burial planned.
