Ernest O Stevens

January 19, 1938 ~ September 22, 2019 (age 81)

Ernest O Stevens, 81 of Pulaski went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 22, 2019.

Ernest (Ernie) was born January 19, 1938 in Tully, N.Y. to Orville and Eleanor Mae (Rose) Stevens. He was a 1955 graduate of Sandy Creek Central School. After graduation Ernie began his work career at GE. In 1973 he completed a course at BOCES in Residential Trade Electricity. He also completed a course in Radio- Electronics from Central Technical Institute in Kansas City Missouri. During his time at GE he agreed to go to the Aleutian Chain in Alaska where they did radar tracking of Russia.  Ernie served as a member of the Army Reserves.  Next he became employed at Owens-Brockway as an Electro-Mechanical Repairman. After retiring he maintained pay telephones until they became almost obsolete, then he became a supervisor for Wells Fargo servicing ATM’s.

Ernie was a beloved member and an elder at North Country Christian Church. He was a cycling enthusiast and cycled around Lake Ontario and went from Orwell to Bar Harbor, Maine. He also enjoyed gardening, raising goats, making bread and traveling.

He is survived by his wife Delores, children George (Michele) Stevens, Ronald(Kim) Stevens, Teri(Fred) Vidler, Melissa(Randy) Brennan, Michael(Tonya) Stevens; step children, Teresa Taylor,( Lynn) Winters, Jeanne ( Peter) Arnold and Jim Pitsley ; siblings Barbara White, Garrie(Pam) Stevens, Norman(Vicki) Stevens, Wayne(Jenny) Stevens, LouAnn (Charles) Hedger, 26 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins

Ernie touched so many lives he will be greatly missed.

There will be a Memorial Service Saturday, September 28th at 11:30 at North Country Christian Church 49 Salisbury St. in Lacona. A Calling Hour will precede the service on Saturday from 10-11am at the church. There will be a reception to follow after the services on Saturday.  Burial will be on Sunday, September 29th at the Riverside Cemetery on County Rte. 22 in Altmar N.Y.
