Dorcas I. Summerville, 73, of Sandy Creek, passed away on April 16, 2018 in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Born April 2, 1945 in Bainbridge, Ga. Daughter of the late James and Mabel Parks Hunt.
She was a resident of the area for the past 60 years. She graduated from Pulaski High School. Married on Dec 14, 1963 to Charles Summerville Jr. Retired from Sandy Creek Central School District and assisted her husband in the daily operation of Summerville Funeral Home in Sandy Creek. She was a member of Sandy Creek United Methodist Church, past president of Cable Trail VFW Aux #8534 Lacona, NY, Sandy Creek Grange #127, member and past matron of Lake Ontario Chapter #124 OES and served as associate Grand Marshal {1983} and former member of N.O.C.A. ambulance.
Survived By: Husband Charles of 54 years, Three children Shelley (David) Salisbury of Florida, Charles (Helen) Summerville of Kodiak Island Alaska, and Lani Summerville of Tolland, Ct, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. A sister Elaine Tolson of Kentucky and several nieces and nephews and cousins. Predeceased by a brother Curtis Bryant.
Services: Calling Hours on Thursday April 26 from 2-4 and from 7-9 at Summerville Funeral Home in Sandy Creek NY. Funeral on Friday April 27 at 1pm at Sandy Creek United Methodist Church. Burial in South Richland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospital as Dorcas was always about helping children and families in need.
