Catherine Stewart Brown, 61 of Adams, passed away at Samaritan Medical Center on Tuesday October 23rd with her loving daughter at her bedside. She was born January 16, 1957 in Watertown to the late Robert and Cynthia (Nuspliger) Moore. She graduated from South Jefferson Central School, class of 1975.
Shortly after high school, Catherine worked for Yellow Cab in Watertown as a cab driver. The skills learned though this job made her the go to as the family GPS. While working there she met her first husband, Jeffrey Tibbles, which ended in divorce. She also worked as a Home Health Aide and at the family run business The Village Decorator, where she was able to use her amazing skills and love of decorating to help others restyle their homes. The majority of her working career though was through Jefferson Rehabilitation Center where she primarily worked at the house in Sackets Harbor. Here she made wonderful, lasting friendships with both the staff and the individuals that resided there that remained strong even after her retirement in 2009.
Outside of her career she enjoyed reading, quilting, photography, writing and was proud to be a long time member of the grammar police. She adored and was adored by her children and was considered to be the "mother hen" of the family.
She married Paul Brown Jr on May 23, 1998 and is survived by him along with two children Amelia Moore (Fred), Plattsburgh; Gregory Brown, Adams; two step children Krysta Brown, Watertown; Justin (Amber) Brown, McLain, MS; two grandchildren Danielle and Alexandre (or Xander as she called him) two brothers, one that she loved more than the other, Robert (Judy) Moore, Adams Center; Samuel (Renee) Moore, Indianapolis, IN; a sister Betsy (Barry) Ormsby, Belleville; several nieces, nephews, and close loving friends.
Per Catherine's request, there will be no services, just a private celebration of life for her family before the scattering of her ashes on Halloween. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Jefferson County SPCA or to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund).
