Rhonda McDougal Barron, 67, of Sandy Creek, NY passed away at her home surrounded by family at her side on May 24, 2017
Rhonda was born in Watertown, NY to Hal & Ginny McDougal on Jan. 28, 1950. She graduated from Sandy Creek H.S. and earned a B.A. from Syracuse University. Her professional career as a social worker was dedicated to the needs of the elderly, disenfranchised and impaired, first as the Residence Director at the Mayfair Home for Adults, and then as the Director of Housing Options and Management for the Elderly (HOME) in Syracuse. She was a frequent and active member of several task forces dealing with planning, creation and provision of services to various populations in the Syracuse metropolitan area.
Although extremely active in her home community as School Board President, President of the Friends of the Library, and numerous fundraising events for various local causes, her overriding investment and energy was first and foremost in her family. Her love and concern for family knew no boundary and was always paramount…even when her own personal health was failing. She was an exceptionally loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a strong, generous and wise woman who was not shy in sharing her wisdom or point of view.
