Joan (Joanie) Woolson of Orwell, New York, died at home surrounded by family on October 16, 2017.

Born June 7, 1952, Joanie attended Sandy Creek Central School and was a former member of the Orwell Fire Company’s Lady Auxiliary and a member of the Vorea Community Church. She spent most of her life raising her children and taking care of her family—making memories and laughs at any given opportunity. She enjoyed camping, cooking, Facebook, family gatherings and barbeques, shopping online, Facebook, playing practical jokes on people, watching her grandchildren play and carry on, laughing, and Facebook. Joanie loved Christmas and the Lord and relied very heavily on her faith every day—often sharing her love of the Lord with others.

Her passion for life, family, and friends was like none other. All who knew her knew how big her heart was and how willing she was to help anyone in need—even if giving to others meant sacrificing herself. Joanie’s spirit will live forever in her children, grandchildren, and anyone with whom she had contact.

Surviving are her children, Dave (Julie) Woolson of Pulaski, Joe Woolson of Orwell, and Missy Woolson also of Orwell, five grandchildren, Hannah, Reece, Colton, Michael, Mason, and Chase, Mom (Joan) Ashby, her brothers John (Bub) (Bonnie) Ashby, Ed (Nancy) Ashby, sister Jean (Gary) Gulliver, and several nieces and nephews. Joanie was predeceased by her husband David and father John.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, October 19, 2017, from 11 am to 1 pm with the funeral immediately following at Sandy Creek Wesleyan Church. A graveside service will follow at the Orwell Cemetary.
