Jack Ronald Hammond, 81 of Sandy Creek, passed away peacefully Monday March 19, 2018 at the home of his daughter Denise.
Jack was born March 5, 1937 in Wayland, NY to Raymond and Helen (Brunswick) Hammond. He graduated from Batavia High School and served in the United States Army from 1955-58 and was called again during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a self-employed antique dealer for many years. He married Shirley Fantom in 1960, she passed February 8, 2012. Jack was a member of the Sandy Pond Sportsman’s Club and enjoyed hunting, traveling and his family who he loved dearly.
Surviving are his daughter Denise Conzone; his son Jack Hammond Jr.; grandchildren Shane Conzone, Jack Hammond, III and Nicole Nalle; a brother Joe (Justine); a sister Marilyn; nieces and nephews Kathryn (Scott) Coldren, Stephanie Hammond, Nathan (Katharine) Hammond, Phil Epstein, Kristopher Day, Kenneth Day and Martha.
Calling Hours will be Saturday March 24, 2018 from 1-3pm with the Funeral Service immediately following at 3pm at Summerville Funeral Home. A reception will follow the service at the Lacona VFW and a Celebration of Life is planned for June 9, 2018 at 1pm at the Sandy Pond Sportsman’s Club.
Donations may be made in his honor to either the Sandy Pond Sportsman’s Club or the Oswego County Fair Association. The family wishes to extend a special Thank You to Mary Wallis and Wayne Salisbury for their friendship and companionship during Jack’s last years.
